Learning at Vintage Patina

We are starting to teach you at Vintage Patina! We're bringing together all sorts of exciting Masterclasses, taught by experts, to help you gain confidence in all things Styling and Decorating with amazing flowers and playing with Vintage Props and Furniture. All taught either at Vintage Patina's atelier in Gladesville, Sydney or at the beautiful gardens at Merribee.

We're aiming to bring short classes on weeknights to you in Sydney, along with intensive, day-long workshops. We'll even have a couple of residential weekends at Merribee - taking advantage of the seasons, the flowers, the vegetables available, and the gorgeous gardens in which to be so very creative.

Our aim is to give you artisanal know-how, inspiration and confidence. It is to teach you an enormous amount but to allow you to enjoy this learning. To "play" with our vintage props and furniture, to create new friends, to eat well, to become tired and to feel good about how much more you know. And all done in a warm and welcoming environment.

You will learn how to create

A floral garland as the fundamental basis of your wedding ceremony/reception decorating. You’ll learn how to use this on a wedding arch AND/OR how to use this on a signing table AND/OR a bridal table. You’ll see how to place this onto a vintage wedding arch, and a vintage table or trestle and/or a signing table.
Your own garland that you can use on a ceiling installation – and try this out on Vintage Patina ladders, or gorgeous vine garlands
Your own smaller arrangements for buffets, guest tables and be able to practise using vintage props.
Your own smaller arrangements for ceremony use (aisle markers, chair garlands......)
How to buy flowers wisely at the market in order to get maximum bang for your dollar
How to care for your flowers in the lead up to the day
How to plan your time so that you are able to do your own arrangements, and not be stressed.
How to do the finishing touches (and to delegate this!)
Floristry fundamentals – keeping your blooms fresher for longer, cutting, and wiring.

You will also have

Lucy Marshall on hand all day – Owner of Vintage Patina - to help give you ideas on how to decorate using Vintage furniture and pieces at your wedding. Lucy is very happy to give tips on how to accomplish the maximum effect for the smallest wedding budget!

You will receive

“the creative’s bag of essentials” – a hessian sack with everything you need inside, including clippers, wire, floral tape, a notebook, and a list of all the flowers you’ve used that day - all tied up with antique French ribbon, of course.
